Brooklyn Community Housing and Services 2015 Gala
BCHS, a highly respected nonprofit, provides housing, supportive services, and assistance to New York's homeless and mentally ill populations. They aim to help all New Yorkers who are or are at the risk of homelessness move towards greater independence and away from homelessness.
Their newest housing facility, Navy Green, serves 97 formerly homeless New Yorkers and was named a 2014 Project of the Year by the Corporation for Supportive Housing.
Our Partnership
Our involvement with BCHS has been a meaningful aspect of our practice for over 25 years. In the late 1980s, we helped design the BCHS office in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Since then, we have designed and helped implement four BCHS office and programming spaces, consulting on many others.
The Board of Directors made the following announcement to recognize Ben and BIA:
Thank you Ben Baxt and Baxt Ingui Architects!
For over twenty-five years, Ben Baxt has been an inspirational and passionate advocate for the homeless and the work of Brooklyn Community Housing and Services. Ben's fervent commitment to BCHS has compelled many other to get involved in the efforts of this extraordinary agency. We thank you, Ben, for your huge heart and ability to ignite in all of us a sense of care and obligation towards those in our community and need of help.
Along with Ben, we acknowledge the work of Baxt Ingui Architects in their support of mindful urban development and generous involvement in the quest of affordable housing for all.
