Before & After: Historic Entryway Restoration

Design

When we came across this Brooklyn Heights Greek Revival rowhome, the remnants of its historic formal entryway still remained. Its owners wanted to restore the front facade and entryway to its mid-1800s glory.

We added new tiles to the vestibule and restored the woodwork detailing. To round out the restoration, we removed the front door, which had been altered in the 1950s.

The new front door was carefully crafted to better match the 1936 tax photo. Careful design and expert craftsmanship were the keys to unlock this historic entryway.

Historic trim and leaded glass detailing were intact, but in disrepair. Our goal was to retain and enhance as much of the existing historic character as possible.

To achieve this, we partnered with Sunburst Studios to restore the intricate glass details in the entry vestibule and hallway.
