Traditional Townhouse
Anglo-Italianate Brownstone

The owners of this mid-1800s Brooklyn Heights townhouse were committed to preserving its historic charm while updating the home. Throughout the house, we restored original detailing, including floors, doors, trim, and staircases whenever possible. We partnered with expert craftsmen to restore the skylight atop the main staircase.

A rear extension gave us space for a modern kitchen at the back of the home. A custom curved deck houses an outdoor dining area and sculptural stair leading to the outdoor garden.

In the cellar, an original arch became the entrance to a new wine room.

Restoration was a primary goal throughout most of the home. The newly renovated attic, entirely clad with restored original and reclaimed wood, leads to a private roof deck accessible through a sliding skylight door.

Reusing and reclaiming materials was an important element of our designs throughout.
