Contemporary Townhouse

College Place Carriage House

Similar to many carriage houses, the challenge with this renovation was designing around the garage at the front of the first floor. Our goal was to create an entryway that got past the garage in a graceful way, connecting the living spaces and allowing plenty of natural light.

On the main floor, a large kitchen and dining area with a double height space and skylights creates a bright, comfortable living space. We closed off the existing loft to create a cozy, quiet reading area.

Note from the Architect

We converted the carriage house from a two-family home with a through-floor garage into a single-family home with a one-car garage. On the first floor, we added a mudroom, laundry room, and primary suite. A welcoming entryway leads upstairs to the main living and entertainment spaces.
