Traditional Townhouse
Freestanding Carriage House
This 26-foot-wide carriage house is unique among Brooklyn homes, in that it is a freestanding home situated at the rear of its lot. This configuration creates a front yard and private driveway.
Our renovation focused on modernizing the home while respecting its unique historic detail. In the kitchen, we united it with the rest of the grand room, creating a cohesive living space.
Note from the Architect
The home's four exposures allow plenty of natural light into the space through skylights, glass doors, and large windows. An open steel and natural wood staircase plays off the restored exposed ceiling beams on the home's main floor.
